Media Consciousness Success Stories & More
The first workshop went well. Next up is more workshops, the show, and the audiobook.
The crisis is real, but so is the solution. At least that appears to be the case according to what I could discern during the first of my “Media Consciousness Workshops.”
The workshop went very well, in all honesty, and I will organize more of them, both in person and online.
The goal of the events is to come together to learn and to teach each other how to become more conscious of the news headlines and narratives we consume. We live in a time of deception and propaganda, but in groups of diverse thinkers we’re less likely to fall prey to the confirmation bias of echo chambers. The workshop format aims to help each of us to consider unfamiliar perspectives, notice our own blind spots, and attain a more truthful sense of the world around us.
The concrete practical objective is for each attendee to create a balanced media diet to take home with him or her. I’m still learning the best steps to guide people do this, and I made some discoveries during this first workshop. Ultimately each attendee’s diet will have the number and mix of sources he or she chooses to commit to viewing; whether or not it resembles the one I put together annually at BalancedMediaDiet.com is less important.
My thanks to one attendee, Michael Bedar. He took some video at the event, and I was able to put together a short video of highlights from this first workshop to give you a taste.
Coming Soon…
Two things I’ve been working on are very near fruition, and I’m thrilled to report on progress:
The Show. The next episode will be out any day now. It will cover timely issues in the news today:
- The ongoing persecution of Julian Assange
- Tucker Carlson’s trip to Russia
- The “Davos Agenda” to guide (or rule?) the world
- Current polling to ascertain “the mood of America”
The Audiobook. As I’ve been saying for months, the forthcoming audiobook of Red White & Blind should be great. I took the time to read it myself for optimal inflection and authenticity. If you like audiobooks, I think you’ll really enjoy this one. I even played and recorded several custom guitar licks to add sonic transitions in the book. The reading, recording, and editing are all done. The final audio files just need some massaging due to new requirements at ACX.
That’s it for now, thanks so much for reading! Now go try on some unfamiliar perspectives or enhance your media diet at BalancedMediaDiet.com.
Congratulations on the successful meeting at Soft Medicine, Sebastopol. The video gives a good snapshot. Looking forward to the show.
